Central Bucks Blog Teacher Natalie Munroe Fired, SEPTA Bus Driver Attacked on Bus, Lorenzo's Burns

Central Bucks High School East teacher, Natalie Munroe, was dismissed on a 7-0 vote by the school board. The Bucks County teacher drew national attention last year with her 'anonymously' penned blog, calling her students "frightfully dim" and "utterly loathsome." She was let go for "unsatisfactory performance." Munroe was suspended in February 2011 when word of her blog began to spread. She was reinstated last summer but denied a transfer to a different school in the district. Munroe has filed suit against the school district for hararassing and retailiating against her. This year she claims she was subjected to harsh and strict classroom and performance evaluations and reviews which lead to their justification to terminate her. Munroe says, “I've been set up.”

A SEPTA driver was attacked this morning in broad daylight near Independence Mall. A man boarded the Route 33 bus at the intersection of 4th and Market and immediately began to yell at and then choke the driver. Two passengers came to the aid of the driver, disarming the assailant of a knife and wrestling him to the ground. Police quickly came to the scene, surrounding the bus, and arrested the attacker who continued to go on as he was put in a police van and taken away. The driver was not hurt just a bit shaken.

South Street's Late night pizza joint, Lorenzo's, went up in flames around 10:30 this morning. Philadelphia firefighters had to fight the blaze for an hour and half to get it under control. One fireman was injured and was treated at Hanneman with a knee injury. Many in the city know Lorenzo's for it's long lines late at night, no frills menu, gigantic slices, and savory staff. The fire marshal is investigating. There is not word yet as to what may have caused it, but workers initially saw smoke coming from an exhaust pipe near the oven. UPDATE: Surveying the damage the next day, the inside is extensively damaged. Owners vow to rebuild as quickly as possible.

Tonight, Mostly Clear skies, pleasant temperatures around 80 into the 70's for most of the evening in Philadelphia.
