FEMA Disaster Centers in New Jersey, Penn State Merchandise Not Online, Hostess Plant Still Open

FEMA has opened Disaster Centers in 19 New Jersey Counties battered by Superstorm Sandy. The Federal Emergency Management Agency approved more than $127 million in individual assistance in the past two weeks. To apply for assistance you can register on line at DisasterAssistance.gov or call 800-621-FEMA.

Why is Penn State merchandise no longer available online? The official online store of the NCAA has removed all Penn State pages from the webstore for NCAA school merchandise, ShopNCAAsports. Searching for Penn State on the site comes up dry. Speculation is that it is related to sanctions over the Sandusky scandal.

UPDATE: The Merchandise store for Penn State is now back online.

The Hostess plant in Northeast Philadelphia is staying open for now. The doughnut maker has been closing plants over nationwide strikes. They have closed three plants in Seattle, St. Louis and Cincinnati because the strike has prevented them from producing and delivering products. Hostess threatened to close the entire company in the event of widespread strikes. Workers are protesting wage and benefit cuts that the company says are crucial concessions needed to regain solid fiscal footing after their second bankruptcy.

Sports
Eagle backup quarterback Nick Foles will prepare for his first start Sunday against the Redskins.

Weather
Partly cloudy. 49 in Philadelphia.
