The City of Philadelphia has announced Free parking at meters and kiosks every Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. and going to 5 p.m. until December 29th. The first free parking Saturday was yesterday, though many people may not have been aware of the policy, despite PPA's PR efforts. The free parking deal applies to meters citywide. PPA Executive Director Vince Fenerty announced the free parking on Friday saying, "The Philadelphia Parking Authority is pleased to join with Mayor Michael Nutter and be a part of spreading the holiday joy and encouraging shoppers to patronize local merchants during the holidays." There will also be a discounted rate of $8 at select PPA lots during the same times on Saturdays.

Reading Terminal Market debuted it's “Holiday Railroad” model train display in Center City on Saturday. People young and old pressed their noses up as they lived their childhoods drawing people from far and wide. The 500-square-foot train display has been showcased every year since 2004. The tracks are nearly a third of a mile long as they wind through the scenery of houses, stations, and hills. Many come to gets ideas for their own trains sets at home. The model train display will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day until New Year’s Eve, except Christmas Day.
