We Need to Talk Podcast Celebrates Creative Philadelphia

Philadelphia has a new podcast showcasing interesting personalities around town. Hosts Levi Landis & Zach Stock mine their own storied past and scout out conversations with creative renegades in Philly and beyond.

We Need To Talk is a new Philadelphia-based podcast showcasing interviews with creative personalities. In an era of increasing availability of podcast programs for listeners, We Need To Talk's unique blend of unzipped spontaneity and crafted content stands above the fray. Landis explains that "while a number of podcasts focus on serious interviews with comedians, or offer purely journalistic approaches to storytelling, we wanted to explore a conversational approach to the full gambit of our interests."

The premier episode features local hero Brian Dwyer as guest, and explores the hosts' insatiable curiosity on topics ranging from the genuine to the absurd. Dwyer is the founder of the world's first pizza museum, Philadelphia's own Pizza Brain. Dwyer, who has been featured in numerous national media, jokes on air “People said I could never do a podcast,” before launching into his own admiration for the power of cheekiness, a la Andy Kaufman, highlighting the tenor of what's to come for the show.

Stock and Landis are themselves no strangers to the creative scene, making and programming nationally-renowned music and art throughout Pennsylvania for over a decade. "The impetus for the show came from our desire to utilize the humor and sentiment in our own relationship as a blueprint for framing the creative community," claims Stock.

In addition to interviews, We Need to Talk integrates original music, sound experiments, and improv techniques to form its foundation. And while the current model focuses primarily on Philadelphia, the hosts are keen to point out that the city is merely a starting point for what may become a more geographically-inclusive show. As Stock puts it, “Philly is our home and biggest resource but our scope is much larger, and I’m sure that will mean bringing in guests and friends from far and wide.”

Listeners can subscribe to We Need to Talk on iTunes, Podbay, Stitcher, and other podcast-hosting sites and applications. More info and episode extras are available at TalkTalkTalk.org or on Twitter @WeNeedToPodcast
