Accidents Jam Commuters; Governor Corbett Lands Blows in Debate; Gay Assault Case With D.A.

Overturned tractor trailers made a mess for morning commuters around Philadelphia today. The first overturned Southbound on I-95 at Bridge Street blocking 3 lanes and stopping traffic in both directions. On the Northeast Extension of the PA Turnpike, another tractor trailer overturned on 476 South between Quakertown and Lansdale backing up traffic for miles. The good news – No serious injuries were reported.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett landed some heavy blows in the first televised debate with Democratic challenger Tom Wolf. Corbett positioned Wolf’s expensive ambitions as inevitable tax increases for everyone. Wolf, a York businessman who is leading in the polls, said he didn’t have enough data to specify at what household income level taxpayers would be affected.

Still no arrests in the assault on the gay couple in Center City on September 11th. However Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said that the investigation is complete and is now in the hands of the District Attorney’s office. Ramsey went on to say the state’s hate crime statute needs to change very quickly to include crimes motivated by sexual orientation.

Sports
The Phillies are in Florida with the Marlins tonight.

Weather
Mostly sunny. 72 in Center City.
