A man with a gun fired a shot through the front door of Toys R Us in Port Richmond on Aramingo Avenue this morning. The incident happened about 6:30 this morning after employees in the store refused to let the man in. Police believe it was an attempted robbery. The suspect then fired a gunshot into the store’s glass front door and fled. No one inside the store was hurt. Police are reviewing surveillance video to identify the suspect.

Former Philadelphia Ironworkers Local 401 union boss Joseph Dougherty faces federal trial today. Dougherty allegedly ran his union like an organized crime operation in order to get work for union members. Eleven of the twelve defendants charged in this case have already pleaded guilty. But Dougherty maintains his innocence. Federal authorities allege Joseph Dougherty exhibited a pattern of extortions, arsons, fear, violence and intimidation including a Quaker Meetinghouse in 2012 that refused to hire the Union, who allegedly went to the construction site and set a crane on fire and cut steel beams and bolts.

Philadelphia will be the permanent home of Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit. The gathering of young entrepreneurs debuted in Philly in October and organizers hope the event will become the nation's most elite networking event for the next generation of business and political leaders. Forbes officials toyed with the idea of moving the summit every year. The decision to stay in Philadelphia was made after several months of negotiations between Mayor Nutter and top Forbes officials.
