A chocolate study from the University of Ghana is getting quite a great deal of attention from a meeting in Denver for the American Chemical Society. It's about a way to make chocolate more nutritious. Chocolate in small doses can have a protective effect on the heart. Antioxidants linked to chocolate lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and stroke risk when consumed in small doses. The research from the University of Ghana suggests that chocolate could be reformulated to retain more of these antioxidants, which would actually make the chocolate sweeter as well.

After Texas senator Ted Cruz officially announced his candidacy for President in 2016, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie answered questions in a radio interview Monday about the possibility of him running for the office as well. Late spring early summer is when he’ll announce his plans, but is not going to let Sen. Cruz’s decision expedite his. Christie says he’s still weighing the pros and cons of running for President .

Civil rights groups are responding to the long-awaited Department of Justice report released yesterday that analyzes Philadelphia’s police-involved shootings. The report is highly critical of the Philadelphia Police department citing deficiencies in training and transparency. The report looks at more than 350 officer involved shootings spanning from 2007 to 2013. In 80% of cases the suspects were African-American, and in 15% of cases, the suspect was unarmed. The DOJ is recommending 91 separate recommendations for change. THE PA ACLU says the reports’ stats underscore the need for better policing in communities of color.
