A woman was fatally struck by a SEPTA train in Montgomery County this morning. SEPTA said the woman died after she was hit by an inbound Lansdale/Doylestown Line train just before 6 a.m. The woman was struck between the North Wales and Gwynedd Valley stations. It's not yet known why the woman was in the track area. The incident prompted SEPTA to suspend service on the Regional Rail line between the Doylestown and Pennlyn stations for about two and a half hours while authorities responded to the scene.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is frustrated by Republican opposition to his proposed tax on natural-gas drillers. Wolf said House Speaker Mike Turzai is the most vocal opponent, commenting Turzai "would rather do good things for his friends in the oil and gas industry than help find a way to fund schools." Turzai says that a new tax on natural-gas drillers would hurt one of the state's fastest-growing industries, resulting in a loss of jobs and tax income. He has also noted that there is already an impact fee on drillers that raises roughly $225 million annually.

A Pennsylvania man has been arrested by undercover deputies in Arizona after traveling across the country to have sex with a horse. Sixty eight year old Michael Crawford was booked on a felony bestiality charge. He was arrested after he confirmed his sexual intentions to undercover officers, who came to the meeting with two horses in a trailer. Crawford told detectives he had traveled the country since the 1970s to find horse owners willing to let him have sex with the animals.
