Stevie Wonder Surprises Center City; Man Shocked, Knocked 4 Stories; Papal Business Hotline Open

Stevie Wonder popped up in Center City this afternoon for a free concert at Dillworth Park next to City Hall to promote a just announced fall extension to his "Songs in the Key of Life" tour. Around a 1,000 people packed the western apron of City Hall around 3pm to catch the living R&B legend perform a few songs. Earlier in the day Wonder had done the same thing at Armory Mall in D.C. and will do it again in Central Park on Monday evening in New York City. Due to high demand, he just announced 20 additional North American dates for the tour that started last November. Wonder will play the Wells Fargo Center in South Philly on Wednesday, October 7th. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 21st at 10 a.m.

A 27-year-old worker is in critical condition after falling four stories from scaffolding after it came into contact with power lines. It happened on the 1500 block of N. 16th Street in North Philadelphia around 11:45 a.m. Two men were up on the rig working on the building when it hit some power lines, shocking and knocking the one man to the ground. He suffered sever burns and internal injuries. The other man did not fall but suffered burns on his hands and forearms. He is in stable condition. They were both taken to Temple University Hospital. Authorities are investigating.

The City of Philadelphia has opened a call-in center for business owners to get help and have questions answered with regards to keeping their businesses open during Pope Francis' visit in September. Many business operators have expressed confusion and worry about staying open for business with the various restrictions announced that limit traffic and transportation. The center is called the Papal Visit Business Resource Center. Staff from the Commerce Department will be on hand to answer all of your questions and offer specific solutions pertaining to your business so you can plan ahead for that weekend.
