The State of Pennsylvania ran it's first assessment check of Philadelphia School Districts buildings in nearly 15 years and has identified nearly 12,000 repairs that need to be done to the schools that could cost up to $5 billion to fix. Officials stated that close to three-quarters of the city's public schools are in poor condition due to delayed maintenance on the issues. One-third of the schools have been deemed "outside of the sustainable funding range." Officials stated that they expect to spend nearly $3 billion over the next decade to make the most urgent repairs. The repair or closure recommendations are not however an indication of the school closing for good.

Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a shooting occurred in the Kensington section of Philadelphia Friday afternoon. The shooting took place at Amber and Monmouth Streets. Police arrived on the scene to find one victim shot and wounded. They were taken to Episcopal Hospital, and there is no word on their condition as of yet. Police are still searching for the suspects responsible for the shooting.
