After many went out and voted yesterday in Election Day 2017, two major positions in New Jersey and Philadelphia will be filled by two new politicians. New Jersey Democratic nominee Phil Murphy defeated Republican Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno to succeed Republican Governor Chris Christie. Officials say that his victory was achieved partially by linking Guadagno to Christie, whose approval ratings have plummeted due to the many controversies in his last term. Philadelphia also had a big seat up for position, the election for the new District Attorney. Democratic nominee Larry Krasner, who is a longtime civil rights and defense lawyer in Philadelphia, has been voted in as the new DA. Krasner has a bit of a bad history with the Philadelphia Police Department as he has sued them over 75 times. The police union even opposed his campaign. Krasner will now fill the shoes of former DA Seth Williams who resigned in June after pleading guilty to corruption charges.

One woman was hurt and several other people needed medical treatment after a two-alarm fire broke out in the Germantown section of Philadelphia on Tuesday. The fire broke out at a twin home on the 200 block of Manheim Street at around 3 am on Tuesday. When crews arrived on the scene they noticed the flames were coming heavily from the first two floors. Luckily, everyone inside of the homes was able to get out. The homes sustained heavy damage from the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

State Police in Pennsylvania have now arrested and charged a man in connection with the shooting of a Pennsylvania State Police corporal on Tuesday in Northampton County. 22-year-old Daniel Khalil Clary was pulled over by police on Tuesday. Police say after a speeding ticket and quick word with him, Clary was free to go. Police then say, Clary didn't leave right away and got back out to ask the trooper for more explanation on the ticket. The trooper then noticed Clary may have been impaired, called for backup, and performed field sobriety tests. When he tried to place him into custody, Clary became violent with the officers and began to resist arrest. Clary broke free and was able to run back to his car where he retrieved a gun and spend fire. One of the troopers on the scene was shot multiple times. Officers returned fire hitting Clary multiple times as well. Clary then fled and drove himself to a nearby hospital where he was later placed into police custody. The injured officer was flown to St. Luke's where he is listed in critical condition.
