The Pennsylvania Superior Court has denied an emergency motion filed by Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill's legal team to have him released from state prison in Chester on bond. Mill was sentenced to 2-4 years in prison earlier this month following several probation violations. The Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus contended that Common Pleas Court Judge Genece Brinkley has not yet responded to several post-sentencing motions including one on bail and another asking for her recusal. The Superior Court denied the emergency motion but directed the lower court to hold a bail hearing "without further delay." See Court Docket

A bicyclist was struck and killed by a trash truck this morning in Center City Philadelphia. It happened at 11th and Spruce streets just before 7:30 a.m. The 24-year-old woman was riding her bike in the bike lane on Spruce Street towards 11th Street when the private sanitation truck made a right turn onto 11th. The woman was taken to Jefferson University Hospital and pronounced dead. She has not been publicly identified. The driver remained at the scene. No word on any charges. The investigation into what happened continues.

A man is under arrest after a body of a woman was found in West Philadelphia this morning. The man had told his parents that he had killed a woman. He led officers to a lot on the 200 block of South 49th Street near his apartment. Police discovered the body of a 20-something woman. The suspect and victim were in a relationship. The man was taken into custody. Police have withheld the victim's identity until next of kin can be notified.
