Temple University Campus Democrats Start Get Out The Vote Planning

On the first day of the new semester, Temple University's campus Democrats met to plan spring activities, including a non-partisan voter registration drive.

President Dave Lopez remains convinced that more young voters means more Obama voters.
Lopez concedes the president's re-election lacks the excitement of his upstart 2008 victory.

But Megan Chialastri, head of the statewide federation of college Democrats, thinks issues such as funding for higher education and job creation will provide the energy for the campaign.

“He can definitely highlight a lot of accomplishments he has for young people and what he’s done in the past three years, and I think that’s going to be the reason they back him in 2012.”

Megan Chialastri, head of the statewide federation of college Democrats:

“The contrast of Democrats to Republicans is going to be even greater this election cycle and I think students are going to see that.”

Chialastri thinks that holds no matter whom Republicans nominate.
