Main Line Murder-Suicide Victim ID; Meek Mill Free on Bail; Burning Body in Dumpster in Bethlehem

The victim in last night's Main Line murder-suicide near Villanova University in Radnor Township has been identified. 33-year-old Meredith Sullivan Chapman was found shot to death in a home she recently moved in to on the unit block of Lowrys Lane. Police responded to the scene around 7 p.m. on Monday, 4/23, and found two women dead. The shooter has been identified as 47-year-old Jennair Gerardot of Wilmington, DE. Police say she shot Chapman before turning the gun on herself. Chapman had just taken a job at Villanova as assistant vice president of marketing and creative services. Previously she worked at the University of Delaware as director of digital communications. In 2016, she ran for Delaware State Senate in the 8th District. Police believe that Chapman was having an affair with Gerardot's husband Mark. They say Garardot disguised herself and took the train from Delaware to Radnor. She broke into Chapman's house and waited for her to get home before opening fire. Radnor Township Police Superintendent William Colarulo said, "There were emails and text messages indicating what she planned to do, and the detectives are still sorting that out."

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court directed lower court Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley to issue an order releasing Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill, aka Robert Rihmeek Williams, from prison on bail. Mill was sentenced to 2-4 years in prison back in November 2017 following multiple parole violations. Brinkley had denied him bail while that sentence was being appealed. In the meantime, his initial conviction from the 2009 drug and gun case that put him on parole has come into question. The credibility of the arresting officer in the original case has been scrutinized by the DA. The district attorney's office has recently expressed support for granting Mill a whole new trial. Mill was released from the state prison in Chester this evening and flew by helicopter to the Wells Fargo Center in South Philly. He is expected to attend tonight's Sixers' playoff game vs Miami.

Meek Mill had this statement:
"I'd like to thank God, my family, my friends, my attorneys, my team at Roc Nation including JAY-Z, Desiree Perez, my good friend Michael Rubin, my fans, The Pennsylvania Supreme Court and all my public advocates for their love, support and encouragement during this difficult time. While the past five months have been a nightmare, the prayers, visits, calls, letters and rallies have helped me stay positive. To the Philadelphia District Attorney's office, I'm grateful for your commitment to justice - not only for my case, but for others that have been wrongfully jailed due to police misconduct. Although I'm blessed to have the resources to fight this unjust situation, I understand that many people of color across the country don't have that luxury and I plan to use my platform to shine a light on those issues. In the meantime, I plan to work closely with my legal team to overturn this unwarranted conviction and look forward to reuniting with my family and resuming my music career."

Meek Mill's lawyer Joe Tacopina said:
"We are thrilled that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has directed Judge Brinkley to immediately issue an order releasing Meek on bail. As we have said all along, Meek was unjustly convicted and should not have spent a single day in jail. We are also pleased that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has noted that Judge Brinkley may opt to remove herself from presiding over any further proceedings in Meek's case in the interests of justice. Meek is excited to be reunited with his family, and we, along with Meek, intend to continue to shine the light on a justice system in need of reform to prevent any other citizen from being put through what Meek has endured."

Police in the Lehigh Valley are investigating after burning body was discovered in a dumpster behind an apartment complex in Bethlehem. The manager of the Parkhurst Apartments on the 1800 block of Barbara Street called police at 2:38 a.m. Tuesday, 4/24, for what he believed was a burning mannequin. Police arrived and found the body of a man on fire. The medical examiner will have to determine cause of death. Police are working to identify the man.
