Two Bodies Found in Front of Whitemarsh Home; 4 Injured in Roosevelt Crash; Bucks Boil Water Lifted

The bodies of an elderly couple were found in the yard of their home in Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County, by a postal worker on Tuesday morning, 12/4. The discovery was made by a United States Postal Worker around 11 a.m. on the 500 block of South Bethlehem Pike near the PA turnpike overpass. The postal worker called police and SWAT arrived to clear the area. Area schools went on lockdown while SWAT searched, including the nearby Hey Diddle Diddle daycare, Upper Dublin School District, and Germantown Academy. They were lifted after an hour. SWAT did not find any other threat. Officials have not released the victims' names, but they are in their 80s. The Montgomery County Detective Bureau and the Whitemarsh Township Police are conducting a joint investigation. Officials won't know the cause or manner of the couple's deaths until an autopsy is performed on Wednesday morning.

Four people were hospitalized after an early morning rush hour accident along the Roosevelt Boulevard Expressway Extension involving multiple vehicles Tuesday morning, 12/4. It happened around 4:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes on Rt 1 near Fox Street in East Falls. Traffic was closed in both directions for nearly 8 hours. A box truck traveling southbound lost control, flipped on its side, and landed on the median crushing the guardrail. Two other vehicles were involved in the crash. The driver of the truck and one of the vehicles had to be extricated using the jaws of life. The driver of one vehicle is on critical condition at Temple University Hospital. Crews needed a crane to lift the truck off the median.

The boil water advisory that was in effect for residents in Lower Bucks County has been lifted. Pennsylvania American Water Company has lifted the advisory for Yardley, Lower Makefield, and parts of Falls Township. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection requires two consecutive dates of clean results prior to lifting the order. The order was first issued on Thursday, November 29, due to high turbidity, or cloudiness, in the water at the treatment plant. 12,600 customers were effected. Pennsylvania American Water recommends following these steps to flush out your system before consuming water.

- Run all cold water faucets in your home for at least five minutes at one time with the highest water flow possible to prevent splashing or flooding of the drains

- Flush automatic ice makers, make three batches of ice and discard; Clean and sanitize ice bin

- Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines specified in the owner's manual

- Change refrigerator filter cartridge

- Run water coolers with direct water connections for five minutes at the highest flow rate possible

- Drain and refill hot water heaters set below 113Â°F.

- For home water filter systems, change filter cartridges. Some units need disinfecting. Follow the directions in the unit's owner's manual.

- Commercial customers should flush adequately to turn over the water in their plumbing systems, including flushing their automatic ice makers and drinking water fountains.
