Delaware County Mayor Removed from Office; 100s Tires Slashed in Chester Co; Silicone Death Arrest

The Delaware County District Attorney's office announced on Wednesday, 1/2, that Mayor Bruce Blunt of Morton must leave office by court order because of his involvement in a bar brawl over 30 years ago. In January 1988, Springfield Police Department responded to a disturbance at Houlihan's Bar. Blunt resisted arrest and assaulted the arresting officers. He was found guilty in September 1988 of felony aggravated assault and other charges. The Pennsylvania constitution bars convicted felons from holding elected office. He assumed the office last January. "We are pleased that effective immediately, a court order has been granted directing his removal from office," officials say. "As a convicted felon, Mr. Blunt violated the law by assuming the position of Mayor, meanwhile wasting the valuable time of our voters and breaching their trust, compromising the electoral process."

Chester County officials are searching for a suspect wanted for vandalizing over 100 tires in one section of Tredyffrin Township early on New Year's Day. Surveillance video taken from the Hudson family did not catch the suspect's face but did show the hooded figure slash nearly every tire on the 5 vehicles parked in their driveway. Tredyffrin Township police say that 48 vehicles were targeted and a total of 132 tires were slashed in a small neighborhood of five streets.

An unlicensed New York City beautician who has previously served time for unlicensed silicone injections has been arrested for the death of a Philadelphia woman caused by a buttocks-enhancement procedure. 44-year-old Whalesca Castillo is charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide for the death of 48-year-old Lesbia Ayala of Philadelphia. It happened on June 17th at a home in the Bronx. Ayala collapsed after getting silicone injections in her buttocks and thighs. She suffered an embolism and went into cardiac arrest. Ayala was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide. This butt lift technique using liquid silicone is not approved by the FDA and is extremely dangerous. Castillo was previously caught performing plastic surgery without a medical license in September 2011. She was caught again in 2014 and sent to prison.
