Two men were critically injured when a tanker truck overturned on I-95 near Bensalem this morning, 2/7. It happened around 10:15 a.m. on the off-ramp from I-95 northbound to Woodhaven Road (Rt. 63). The truck overturned and burst into flames. The driver and passenger were taken to the hospital in critical condition with burns. The 3,000 gallon truck was on fire for hours sending a thick plume of smoke into the air. Authorities told local schools to stay inside for recess and residents to keep windows closed. It took at least two hours to put out the flames. Firefighters had to bring water to the scene since I-95 does not have fire hydrants. The ramp from I-95 North to Woodhaven Rd (Rt. 63) West is expected to be closed until Friday night. Crews need to remove the wreckage, clean the fuel, and repair the roadway. Eastbound Woodhaven Road (Route 63) to Northbound I-95 has reopened.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed a bill into law that requires all public schools in the state to install a 'panic' alarm by the fall. It was signed on Wednesday 2/6. The law is named Alyssa'a Law after 14-year-old Alyssa Alhadeff. She was a New Jersey native who was killed in the fatal high school shooting last year in Parkland, Florida. New Jersey has approximately 2,500 public schools. Some schools already have the silent alarms which are activated by a button and alert law enforcement to a life-threatening or emergency situation. The project could cost between $2.5 million and $12.5 million. Voters have already approved funding for the project.

Bill Cosby has been moved into the general population unit at SCI Phoenix in Collegeville, Montgomery County. The 81-year-old entertainer spent four months in special housing to get acclimated to the prison before being moved. Cosby is legally blind and has an inmate assigned to him to help during the day. Inmates are awoken at 6 a.m. and must return to cells at 8:45 a.m. At other times they can be in gym or exercise yard, or in the library, classroom, day room, or visiting area. He is serving three to 10 years after being convicted last year of three counts of felony sex assault. He is appealing the conviction.

Sports

The Philadelphia 76ers have traded 2017 1st-overall-pick Markelle Fultz to Orlando Magic at the trade deadline. In return the Sixers receive Jonathan Simmons, a 2019 2nd Round pick, and a 2020 top-20 protected first-round pick from Oklahoma City. Fultz has not had much success since being drafted. He's been dogged by a combination of shooting issues and injuries. The Sixers have also recently acquired Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic and Mike Scott from the Los Angeles Clippers and James Ennis from the Houston Rockets.

The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto from the Miami Marlins. Phillies will be sending C Jorge Alfaro, #1 prospect LHP Sixto Sanchez, minor leaguer P Will Stewart, plus international slot money to the Marlins. The Phillies are still courting free agents Bryce Harper and Manny Machado.
