Pennsylvania state prosecutors have charged a Pennsylvania state representative and accused her of stealing over $500,000 from a non-profit she founded to help the mentally ill and poor fighting addiction. Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro's office announced the charges on Wednesday, 12/4, against state Rep. Movita Johnson-Harrell. Those charges include perjury, tampering with public records, and theft. Johnson-Harrell allegedly took the funds from the non-profit Motivations Education & Consultation Associates or MECA. She used the money for payments on her Porsche, vacations, expensive clothes, real estate, and other expenses. "She has agreed to take responsibility for her crimes and will plead guilty to her charges," Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro said. The 53-year-old Democrat won a special election last March to take the seat in the 190th District which serves West Philadelphia. She became the first female Muslim member of the state House. Johnson-Harrell filled the seat vacated by Democrat Vanessa Lowery Brown who resigned after been sentenced for bribery and other charges last December.

Two middle school children were injured when a Pennsylvania State Police chase ended in a multi-car crash in Germantown on Tuesday evening, 12/3. It started on I-76 when State Police tried to initiate a traffic stop on a silver Hyundai Entourage. During the chase one suspect threw a gun out the window which police recovered. The chase ended when the driver hit a parked car on the 5200 block of Morris Street. The parked car then struck two young kids that were standing nearby. A 12-year-old boy suffered injuries to his lower leg and a 13-year-old girl possibly suffered a broken ankle. The driver, Renaldo McPercy Robichaw, was arrested. The passenger, James Adams, was also arrested on a warrant out of Philadelphia.

A Philadelphia high school football star has died after being shot by his twin brother on Sunday, 12/1, in West Philadelphia. It happened around 5:20 p.m. in an apartment on the 1100 block of North 63rd Street. 18-year-old Suhail Gillard was shot once in the chest by his twin brother Fayaadh Gillard. Suhail was rushed to the hospital where he died a short time later. Fayaadh has been charged with murder, possession of an instrument of crime, unsworn falsification to authorities, and obstructing justice. The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been revealed. Suhail was a three-time All-Public League running back for Mastery Charter North High School. He was expected to graduate this spring and several colleges were looking at him to come play for them next year. The investigation in ongoing.
