A Philadelphia Police officer was arrested and charged on Wednesday, 7/21, for allegedly deleting a video from a suspect's cell phone during a traffic stop on March 23 in Olney. Officer Tyree Burnett is charged with attempted tampering, attempted official oppression, and obstruction of justice. It happened around 10:20 p.m. at a gas station on the 100 block of East Champlost Avenue. The suspect, Jacob Giddings, was sitting in his car at the gas station when Burnett approached. After asking for Giddings' information, Burnett told him to get out of the car. Giddings asked for a reason why and began to the record the incident with his cell phone. Burnett's police body cam was also recording the incident. He pulled Giddings out of the vehicle and placed him under arrest. He apparently had an active warrant from November 2020. Giddings had dropped his phone in the process. Burnett picked it up and can be seen on body cam footage allegedly deleting the video. He has been placed on administrative leave with the intent to dismiss in 30 days. He was a four-year veteran of the force and last assigned to the 35th District.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced charges against State Representative Margo Davidson (D-164th District). 58-year-old Davidson is accused of filing false per diem expenses for nights she did not spend in Harrisburg. She also received reimbursements from the Commonwealth that were already paid by her campaign. She is also accused of failing to report campaign finance information and soliciting a witness to lie during an investigation. She is charged with misdemeanor theft, solicitation to hinder apprehension, and election code violations. She has already paid $6,925 in restitution. Davidson represented the 164th district since 2010. It includes Upper Darby, Landsdowne, East Landsdowne, Yeadon, and Millbourne. She has stepped down from her office.

"State Representatives swear an oath to use their office for public service - not fraudulent personal gain," Attorney General Josh Shapiro said. "We will uphold the laws of the Commonwealth without bias, and we will continue to uncover corruption wherever it is found."
