IBEW Local 98 union leader John 'Johnny Doc' Dougherty and Philadelphia City Councilman Bobby Henon were at the top of a federal indictment announced on Wednesday, 1/30, by First Assistant United States Attorney for Eastern Pennsylvania Jennifer Arbittier Williams. A New Jersey high school teacher has been charged with having sex with a student. 30-year-old Alexandra Reiner of Eastampton is charged with second degree sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Reiner is a special education teacher at Rancocas Valley Regional High School in Burlington County. Philadelphia Police are investigating after cell phone footage captured a violent road rage incident in Northeast Philadelphia last Thursday morning, 1/24. It happened at the intersection of Levick Street and Roosevelt Boulevard. A maroon sedan was on Levick Street sitting at a red light when it was struck from behind by a white work van. The Philadelphia District Attorney's office announced on Friday, 1/25, that it will appeal a judge's ruling that would allow convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal another chance to appeal his case. In December, Philadelphia Judge Leon Tucker granted the new appeal based on a Supreme Court ruling that said a former Pennsylvania justice who heard the appeal had a potential conflict of interest. Amtrak has begun removing the iconic Solari split-flap train information board at 30th Street Station in Philadelphia. It will be taken down this weekend. The board will be moved to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Lancaster County. It is the last flipping analog display board in use in Amtrak's system. The first medical marijuana facility in Center City Philadelphia opened on Thursday morning, 1/24. Beyond/Hello is located at 12th and Samson. It is the first dispensary licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to open downtown. There are about 50 other licensed facilities statewide. The same company also owns one in Bristol, Bucks County. You need a valid Pennsylvania medical marijuana card to enter the facility. There are trained medial staff on site to assist customers.... Five women and a teenage boy have been charged following a brawl in the stands of an 8th grade basketball game in Salem County last weekend. It happened shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday 1/19 at Pennsville Middle School. The game was part of the Salem County Rural League between visiting Salem and Pennsville. Bucks County authorities are investigating after the body of a man was found encased in ice in a pool in New Hope on Tuesday afternoon, 1/22. The man was found frozen in a pool behind the Logan Inn on West Ferry and Main Streets around 2 p.m. He had to be cut out. Officials have identified the man but have not released his name.
