A junkyard fire caused serious delays on SEPTA and Amtrak train service through Northeast Philadelphia on Sunday night and early Monday morning. The fire started just before 7 p.m. Sunday, 8/19, near Torresdale and Adams Avenues in Frankford. Thick black smoke could be seen for miles. Arrest warrants have been issued for three men in connection with the shooting of two undercover detectives in Camden earlier this month. 19-year-old Alexander DeJesus of Philadelphia, 26-year-old Ammar Hall of Camden, and 20-year-old Juan Figueroa of Camden have all been charged with first degree attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses. A contractor died after being trapped for several hours in a trench that collapsed in Philadelphia's East Oak Lane neighborhood on Thursday, 8/16. It happened around 11 a.m. on the 100 block of West Walnut Park Drive. Men were doing plumbing work in the hole at the time when dirt and concrete began to refill the trench. It happened around 9:40 p.m. on the 1800 Block of East Pastorius Street. 18-year-old Kristian Marche was found in a driveway with a gunshot to the head. A North Philly mother known for throwing extravagant prom send off parties costing tens of thousands of dollars has been charged with Social Security fraud. 44-year-old Saudia Shuler is charged with six counts of wire fraud, one count of theft of government funds, and two counts of social security fraud.
