The Philadelphia Zoo has announced that their 37-year-old female polar bear Coldilocks has died. The zoo decided to euthanize the animal due to a serious decline in her health. Colidlocks was the oldest polar bear in the country. She was born on December 13, 1980 at Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester, NY. Coldilocks arrived at Philadelphia Zoo on October 6, 1981. Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a man was shot and killed in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia on Monday. The shooting took place at around 5 p.m. on the 3800 block of North 13th street, near Pike Street. Police arrived on the scene to find the victim with a gunshot wound to the head, lying outside of a local grocery store. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court released its own congressional redistricting map this afternoon (see map below). Back in January, the Democratic-majority court ruled that the state's 18-district map in use since 2011 was unconstitutionally gerrymandered and partisan in Republican favor and ordered a new map be drawn. Police in Atlantic County, New Jersey are investigating a deadly crash that happened Sunday morning. The crash took place at around 8:30 am on Sunday on US Route 206 close to the intersection of Union Road. Police say that a 25-year-old driver was attempting to pass a car in the southbound lanes and ended up in the northbound lanes. Over 100 residents and hotel guests were evacuated early this morning because of a 4-alarm fire in Old City. The fire started in a building near 3rd and Chestnut around 3 a.m. Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and flames coming from the windows and roof. The building has retail/restaurant space at street level and apartments above. About 160 people were evacuated including neighboring buildings such as the Best Western Independence Park Hotel. PECO officials are warning locals to protect themselves from a string of recent scams targeting their customers. The suspects are calling customers disguised as PECO employees saying that their electric will be cut off unless a payment is made. A New Jersey man has been arrested after a meth lab was discovered in his Atlantic City hotel room following a fire on Wednesday morning. 49-year-old Michael Pillar of Whiting has been charged with maintaining a controlled dangerous substance production facility, possession of methamphetamine and criminal mischief.
