Philadelphia Police are investigating after a casket containing human infant organs was discovered on a sidewalk in North Philadelphia. The child-size casket was found by passers-by on the 3100 block of West Clearfield Street around 9 p.m. Officers opened the casket to find a bag of organs but no body. Police have now placed a suspect in custody after he stabbed a man and created a barricade situation in the Strawberry Mansion section of Philadelphia on Monday. The incident took place on the 2500 block of North Stanley Street at around 4:20 pm. Police say that a 23-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the chest and was taken to Temple University Hospital for treatment. The New Jersey state budget stalemate continues on Monday as the partial state government shutdown of non-essential services remains. That shutdown includes state parks, tourism offices, motor vehicle services, and more. Governor Chris Christie ordered the shutdown on Friday after lawmakers failed to approve a budget. Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a man was injured in a shooting in North Philadelphia on Saturday. The shooting took place at around 4:45 pm on Orianna and Cumberland Streets. Police arrived on the scene to find a 21-year-old man shot twice in the stomach. The man was taken to Temple University Hospital and is reportedly in stable condition. Police are now investigating for a white sedan that was seen fleeing the scene.

SEPTA officials are reminding passengers that the fare increase will go into effect over this upcoming weekend. The fare increase was approved by the board back in May and will effect all means of transportation. The electronic card and token single fares will increase from $1.80 to $2, cash fares will increase from $2.25 to $2.50 and weekly TransPass fares will increase from $24 to $25.50. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed a bill on Wednesday legalizing the sale of handheld sparklers and novelty items, just in time for the 4th of July holiday. Anyone 16 and older will now be able to legally purchase handheld and ground-based sparkers and well as novelty items such as party poppers and snappers. All other fireworks remain illegal in New Jersey including both aerial and explosive types. Those include rockets and firecrackers.

Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams has taken a plea deal in his corruption, bribery and fraud case and resigned as the city's top prosecutor. This come two weeks into his federal trial. Williams pled guilty one count of accepting a bribe from a local businessman. The other 28 counts of the indictment were dropped.
