Foam in Center City After PECO Explosion; Jill Stein Drops PA Recount; Fire in Oakland 'Ghost Ship'

Explosions at a PECO substation in Center City caused massive amounts of fire suppressant foam to leak from the building and cover an entire block. Police received several 911 calls around 1 p.m. reporting explosions coming from inside the PECO Waverly Sub Station on the 400 block of South Juniper Street near Lombard. The Wilmington Fire Department has announced funeral arrangements for fallen Senior Firefighter Ardythe Hope. A public viewing will be held on December 10th from 10 a.m. to Noon, with a full firefighter funeral at 1 pm. The family will hold a reception after the service. It will take place at the Chase Center on the Riverfront, located at 815 Justison Street in Wilmington. Police are now investigating a shooting that took place in North Philadelphia on Friday that left one man in critical condition. The shooting happened on the intersection of 6th and Butler Streets at around 12 pm. Police responded to the call and arrived on scene to find a 31-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his neck and left shoulder. The mother of a 2-year-old boy whose death has been ruled a homicide has been arrested and charged in the case. 23-year-old Andrea Worrell has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and obstructing justice. Police responded to the 600 block of E. Clementine Street in Kensington just before Midnight on Tuesday. 2-year-old Zyair Worrell was unresponsive and was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children where he was pronounced dead at 2:10 a.m. The medical examiner... A 44-year-old man was killed Thursday night in a building fire in West Philadelphia. The fire broke out at around 8:30 pm Thursday evening on the 300 block of North 64th Street. Firefighters arrived on scene and found flames bursting out of the second floor of the storefront. After about a half hour, crews were able to get the fire under control, but when the firefighters entered the building they found the 44-year-old man dead inside. After arresting the suspect, Philadelphia Police have now released the identity of the man responsible for the hit and run accident in Overbrook that took the life of 8-year-old Jayanna Powell. 24-year-old Paul Woodlyn, of the 1200 block of Marlyn Street, was taken into custody Wednesday night. Philadelphia officials have released new information in connection with the Rittenhouse Square mail bombing last month. Police showed photos taken from surveillance footage of a person-of-interest who dropped off the explosive package. On November 22nd, 62-year-old Jim Alden opened the package in his kitchen on the 1800 block of Pine Street in Center City and triggered the explosion. Officials have identified the man arrested yesterday in connection with the deadly hit-and-run accident in Overbrook last week. 24-year-old Paul Woodlyn has been charged with homicide by vehicle, accident by death, and involuntary manslaughter. Bail has been set at $500,000. The vehicle in the crash was recovered a few hours earlier at an auto body shop in Frazer, Chester County. The 76ers had to postpone Wednesday night's game against the Sacramento Kings due the court being too slippery to play on. Sixers officials released a statement on Wednesday night saying the game "has been postponed due to an issue with the surface of the court and with player safety in mind.
