Police have now arrested two men in connection with a street racing incident that killed a 3-year-old girl in the Kensington section of Philadelphia back in early August. Twenty-three-year-old Hector Torres Jr, and a Seventeen-year-old boy have been placed in police custody. Police say that the Seventeen-year-old driver was racing Torres down 2nd Street back on August 6th, when the Seventeen-year-old struck a family's car, throwing three-year-old Esther Palmer from the car. The SEPTA strike is now in Day 2 as 4,700 bus, trolley, and subway workers are out of the driver seat and on the picket lines. Regional Rail lines experience delays this morning anywhere from 20-45 minutes as the only option for commuters to get into Center City. This, however, was nothing compared to last night when many trains had to be canceled due to picketing activity. The Transportation Workers Union has now declined an offer from SEPTA officials to try and resolve the strike. The offer was rejected by shortly after 5 pm by Union members, officials say the offer contained few additions the union members wanted. Around the same time, SEPTA officials received an injunction from the Philadelphia Common Pleas court, that bans strikers from interfering with Regional Rail services, after they caused many cancellations this evening. SEPTA officials have stated that striking employees are causing service problems along SEPTA's Regional Rail lines, which is one of the only SEPTA services still operating due to the strike. Officials released a statement saying "Due to the TWU strike-related pickets at Regional Rail facilities, SEPTA will have to cancel a significant number of trains during the evening rush hour." An American Airlines flight was delayed at Philadelphia International Airport on Tuesday after there was a report that a banned phone was on board. Passengers aboard Flight #2051 from Philly to Miami were taken off the plane and re-screened. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phone is banned on all U.S. flights and has been recalled by Samsung because the risk of explosion and fire. No phone was found and the passengers were allowed to re-board. 4,700 SEPTA workers from the Transit Workers Union Local 234 went on strike at the stroke of midnight Tuesday despite daylong contract negotiations with SEPTA officials. Drivers will finish out their routes tonight. Parties for both sides met at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel in Center City all day Monday. The days of cheap gas in New Jersey is now coming to an end starting Tuesday. This comes about after Jersey had run out of money to pay for new transportation projects for the city. So NJ Governor Chris Christie and the State Legislature came to an agreement to raise the gas tax up by 23 cents. Police have now arrested and charged a 16-year-old male who was involved in a paintball incident near Temple University's campus on Sunday. Officials say that just before 2 pm on Sunday, the teen was caught firing a paintball gun at walking pedestrians just outside of his house on the 1500 block of W. Diamond Street. Over a dozen new felony charges have been filed against a Bucks County man who had been caught living with 12 young girls in his Feasterville home in June. 51-year-old Lee Kaplan is now charged with sexually assaulting 5 more of those girls. SEPTA officials continued to meet with the members of the Transportation Workers Union this weekend to avoid the possible strike that could start Tuesday morning if an agreement is not met. The strike could cause a closure of the city's transportation system including the bus, trolley, and subway systems. The strike could possibly affect more than 40,000 passengers in the city.
