Vice President Joe Biden was honored in Philadelphia Wednesday night for his work trying to find a cure for cancer. The Vice President lost his son, Beau, to cancer last year, and since then, he's been a man on a mission supporting research. The World Affairs Council recognized his work by presenting him with the Atlas Award. Thanks to an Uber ride with Liz Willock and people who came together online to fund his trip, a Delaware County, Pennsylvania, father is flying to Brazil to watch his son go for gold in the 2016 Olympics. Ellis Hill from Darby drove Willock from the airport to Cherry Hill and told her about his Olympic son. When she heard he couldn't make the trip, she offered to take care of everything. SEPTA announced its plans for returning cars back to service on the Regional Rail lines beginning the end of August. Starting August 21st, approximately 10 cars will be added each week. All 120 Silverline V cars should be back in service by the week of November 6th. They were taken out of service after a defect was discovered in the suspension systems. Tens of thousands across the country took to the streets of their communities as part of National Night Out 2016. The event is aimed at bringing neighbors and members of law enforcement together. Locally, festivities were held in Evesham Township and Camden, where officers and neighbors shared stories, and got to know each other.

The Montgomery Township Police Department is investigating a crime incident in which three suspects committed a jewelry heist at Montgomery Mall. Authorities say the suspects smashed many jewelry displays into pieces before running from the scene with almost $10,000 worth of jewelry. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Helzberg Diamonds. No injuries were reported. Eyewitnesses say the suspects were wearing all black with masks covering their faces.

The father of a man arrested after throwing a rock at a moving Coatesville police cruiser sent a letter to the police department apologizing and praised them for their professionalism. On July 18th, Eric Watson was arrested after throwing a rock at the windshield of Officer Jared Davis' police car. Police are looking for the driver of a sport utility vehicle who they say struck and killed a 27 year old woman, and drove away from the scene in Atlantic County. Galloway Township police say Aubrey Servis was walking in a crosswalk on White Horse Pike at 6th Avenue at about 10pm Monday when she was hit by the SUV. The Little Egg Harbor woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Yesterday in North Philadelphia, gunlocks were given out to encourage the city's new gun law that forces gun owners to lock up their guns when they are not being used. No IDs were asked for and the sheriffs did not question the owners concerning whether or not the guns were registered. The new motto is, "Got a gun, get a lock." Just using a simple gunlock can save a life.

A South Jersey mas was almost killed by state police in what some are calling a big misunderstanding. Around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, troopers from the Bridgeton Barracks were doing a wellness check in Upper Deerfield after someone called 9-1-1 and hung up. When the two troopers knocked on the door, no one answered.
