Health Insurers want to hike rates in Pennsylvania. Saying their own costs have risen, insurance companies made their cases to state regulators Wednesday for double-digit rate increases next year for individual policies in Pennsylvania. The requests before the Insurance Department include proposed average rate increases of 17.2 percent for Aetna Health Inc., 25.4 percent to 48.1 percent for Highmark companies, 0.9 percent to 16.2 percent for UPMC companies, and 19.9 percent to 22.5 percent... Demonstrators tied themselves to a railing inside the Comcast Center to protest the media's coverage of the presidential election. A number of protestors made their way into the lobby and zip tied their wrists to a rails before noon at the building at 17th Street and JFK Boulevard in Center City. Prosecutors dropped remaining charges today against three Baltimore police officers awaiting trial in the death of Freddie Gray. This decision brought an end to the Gray case without a conviction. The decision by prosecutors came after a judge had already acquitted Officer Caesar Goodson, Officer Edward Nero, and Lt. Brian Rice. Eagles linebacker, Nigel Bradham was arrested after allegedly assaulting a hotel employee. According to officials, Bradham turned himself in to Miami police authorities on Monday. The incident occurred on Thursday, July 21 according to police. Both the hotel employee and Bradham were involved in a verbal altercation and as the argument continued, Bradham struck the employee in the nose, knocking him to the ground. Philadelphia has removed Mississippi's state flag from a lamppost after a group of about 50 protesters sat in a roadway while marching down Philadelphia's Broad Street ahead of the Democratic convention. The flag includes the Confederate emblem. Yesterday, Septa passengers were rescued after heavy rain caused the bus to stall in floodwaters in Lehigh and Delaware Valleys. The SEPTA bus and several cars got stalled in the flash flood located beneath the overpass at Station and RailRoad Avenues. Passengers were rescued by fire and police. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.

The theme of the first day of the Democratic National Convention was "Putting Families First," with speakers touching on a wide range of topics.
Speakers touched on everything from immigration to drug addiction to LGBT discrimination. And for a day that started with boos— the more the discussion turned to equality— the more applause.
