The Eagles officially announced Doug Pederson as their new head coach on Monday. The former Chiefs offensive coordinator is being formally introduced at a news conference today at 2 p.m. Jim Schwartz, the former Lions head coach and defensive coordinator with the Bills, arrived in Philadelphia and is expected to interview with Pederson for the defensive coordinator job.

Glenn Frey Dies at 67, La Salle Bus Crash, Keystone Exams Vote

Glenn Frey, who co-founded the Eagles and with Don Henley, became one of history's most successful songwriting teams with such hits as "Hotel California" and "Life in the Fast Lane," has died. Frey, who was 67 and had been battling multiple ailments, died Monday. The band's website said he died in New York. The band also posted a message on their Facebook page, which read, in part:

Philadelphia Police have identified the suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of one homeless shelter worker and the injuring of another worker early in the morning on Sunday. It happened at the Station House Transitional Center on the 2600 block of North Broad Street around 6 a.m. Police were looking for 32-year-old John Brock who fled the scene after the shooting. Water Main Break; Homeless Shelter Shooting; Fire at Hillcrest Tavern

A major road is closed due to a water main break in East Whiteland Township. The affected area is Swedesford Road between Church Road and Phoenixville Road. The water main blew in sub-freezing temperatures and closed the road due to icing conditions due to the break.

Center City hotel occupancy hit a record high in 2015 of 3.1 million room nights. A man who had been evicted from a North Philadelphia homeless shelter returned on Sunday morning and opened fire, killing one employee and injuring another. It happened at 6 a.m. Sunday at the Station House Transitional Shelter on the 2600 block of North Broad Street. The man was evicted on Friday night because he was intoxicated. It happened at 9:50 a.m. in an alleyway on the 7100 block of Montague Street. Doug Pederson will be the next head coach of the Eagles. Perderson is a former player and assistant coach for the team. Pederson succeeds Chip Kelly, who was fired and has since been hired as the San Francisco 49ers head coach. Doug Pederson is currently the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs. Fire officials are investigating possible arson in North Philadelphia. Police and fire officials were called to the 3100 block of 6th Street around 1 a.m. Friday where they found two minivans that appeared to be intentionally set on fire. Authorities say the blaze may have started in the engine area. No injuries were reported.

FBI Director James B. Comey is in Philadelphia today. He says federal agents are investigating last week's shooting of a Philadelphia police officer as a terrorist attack. His comments marked the first time investigators have publicly characterized the Thursday shooting of Officer Jesse Hartnett by a man pledging allegiance to the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, as a potential act of terror.
