Ogontz Fire Injures One, Mayfair Bar Shooting Injures One, Steven Tyler Concert Hoax

Officials say one person was taken to the hospital following a house fire overnight in the Ogontz section of Philadelphia. The blaze broke out around 2:15 a.m. at the home on the 1400 block of West Nedro Avenue. Officials say one female was removed from the home. She was taken to Einstein Hospital with smoke inhalation. Crews were able to place the fire, which began in the rear bedroom of the two-story home, under control quickly. There’s no word yet what caused the blaze.

Actor Comedian Tracy Morgan has reached a settlement with Walmart almost a year following the deadly crash on the New Jersey Turnpike that killed one and seriously injured Morgan and others. The accident happened on the northbound turnpike on June 7th, 2014 when a Walmart truck driven by Kevin Roper slammed into the back of a nearly stationary limo bus with Morgan and friends. The interior of historic Boyd theater on Chestnut Street is exposed while demolition continues. Yesterday the architectural committee of the Historical Commission denied the proposed plan to build a residential tower, retail and restaurant space. One of the concerns is the plan to convert the foyer facing Sansom Street into a loading dock.

Philadelphia Police are investigating a triple shooting in the city's West Oak Lane section. Police were called to the area of 15th and Kinsdale Street a little before 11:30pm Tuesday on reports of shots fired. Once on scene, they found 3-male victims between the ages of 28 and 38. All 3 were taken to Einstein Hospital for treatment. Police believe the shooter left the scene in a light-colored vehicle heading north on 66th Street.

A Northeast Philadelphia man plead guilty today to strangling his wife near Pennypark Park last summer. 49-year-old Christopher Murray plead guilty to 3rd-degree murder in the death of 46-year-old Connie Murray. Connie had gone out for a walk after the couple had an argument over text messages Christopher received from a female acquaintance. She did not return and was reported missing the next day. Two 19-year-old men are dead after separate shootings in Philadelphia. The first victim was gunned down on the 2100 block of North 30th Street. Investigators are not sure if the victim was the intended target, or if he was hit by a stray bullet. Philadelphia police say they are looking for two suspects. In Southwest Philadelphia, another 19-year-old man was shot to death at the Connell Recreation Center. The victim was found on the grass near 65th and Elmwood just after 10pm Monday night. ... South Jersey police have made an arrest in Saturday's bank robbery at a PNC branch in Gloucester Township. Tipsters helped identify 37-year-old Timothy J. Givens of Sicklerville from surveillance video released to the media. Givens robbed the bank on the 900 block of Black Horse Pike on Saturday morning of an undisclosed amount of cash. Rutgers University football cornerback Darian Dailey has been arrested on robbery charges in Florida. Nineteen year old Dailey of Bradenton, Florida, and 20 year old Trazelle Johnson robbed a bicyclist at gunpoint about 2 a.m. Sunday in Sarasota. The pair, who were in a car, were arrested in Manatee County after the victim gave investigators the license plate number of the car. Dailey is being held on bail set at $150,000. Mathematical genius John Forbes Nash Jr. and his wife Alicia Nash of Princeton, NJ, were both killed on Saturday in a car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike. They were taking a taxi home from the airport in Newark after flying home from Norway following the reception of an award.
