Are the New England Patriots cheaters? The NFL is investigating whether the Super Bowl bound Patriots led by coach Bill Belichick underinflated footballs in their championship game against the Colts. An under-inflated ball is easier to throw and catch. ESPN has reported that 11 of the 12 game balls allotted to the Patriots were found to be underinflated by 2 pounds. Coffee vs. Skin Cancer, Market Street East Digital Sign, Love Park Changes

According to The Journal of the National Cancer Institute, people who drink coffee on a regular basis, four or more cups a day, had a 20% lower risk for developing the deadliest form of skin cancer, malignant melanoma, than those who drank less coffee. The same did not hold true for decaffeinated coffee drinkers. Malignant melanoma is the 5th most common cancer in the United States and the leading cause of skin cancer deaths. Democrat Tom Wolf was sworn in this afternoon as the 47th Governor of the state of Pennsylvania in front of a crowd of a few thousand outside the Capitol building in Harrisburg. Wolf, a political outsider, spent $10 million of his own money on his campaign to unseat the Republican incumbent Tom Corbett. Penn State's Athletic Director Sandy Barbour is taking some heat on Twitter. She called the 409 sticker worn on the helmets of Penn State's hockey team "inappropriate and insensitive". The hockey team wore the stickers to recognize the restoration of Joe Paterno's 409 wins as the school's football coach.

A major gas leak in South Philadelphia forced the evacuation of 6 homes early Tuesday morning on Snyder Avenue around 2:40am. Captain William Dixon of the Philadelphia Fire Department says there was a 60% natural gas reading in the air when the leak was discovered. South Philly High School was opened as a warming center for people who couldn’t yet return to their homes. No one was injured due to the gas leak.

Penn State/NCAA Settle, Paterno Wins Restored; Video in Bus Stop Killing; Upper Darby Cop Opens Fire

The NCAA and Penn State have reached a settlement that would vacate the 2012 consent decree signed in the the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal. The settlement would restore 112 wins to the football program, 111 of which were won under the late Joe Paterno, placing him back on top the all-time wins list for head coaches.
