A violent carjacking in North Philadelphia leaves a man in critical condition with gunshot wounds Wednesday night. It happened around 6 p.m. at 21st and York Streets. Police say a 26-year-old man was shot twice in his back inside of his red Dodge Durango. Authorities say the suspect got away in the car. The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that longtime Public Address Announcer Dan Baker will no longer be the team's in-stadium voice come next season. Baker, who has one of the most recognizable voices in all of Philadelphia, has been the Eagles' PA announcer for the past 29 years. Team officials informed Baker of the decision last week.

The Philadelphia Zoo is giving visitors a closer look at the big cats with a new overhead trail system that lets the cats cross overhead contained only by a mesh netting fence. The new $2.3 million addition gives the tigers, lions, jaguars, pumas and snow leopards unprecedented access to more areas, smells and views in the zoo. Philadelphia is the nation’s first zoo to embrace the elevated trail system.

A pair of ospreys have built a nest inside the fire siren at Spring Lake. By law, the nest can't be disturbed. Ospreys are listed as a threatened species in New Jersey during their breeding season. So the siren has been turned off for the spring and summer, while firefighters and paramedics rely on pagers and cellphones to alert them of emergencies. The nest cannot be disturbed at least until Sept. 1.

A violent car crash and freak accident sent a pedestrian flying over the Walnut Street bridge in University City this morning. It happened just before 10 a.m. at 30th and Walnut Streets. A blue Mercury Montego was traveling at a high rate of speed going south on 30th. It blew through the red light at Walnut Street when it got broadsided by a red Toyota Camry. Thieves took over a Philadelphia gas station, locked the attendant in the bathroom and sold gas to customers at a discount for three hours yesterday. It was the Hess station on Island Avenue near the airport. About 1 am three men, one wearing a Hess shirt, emptied the cash register, assaulted the attendant and took cash from customers. Police believe the same crew robbed a Hess on Passyunk last week.

A 15-year-old boy and 24-year-old man are hospitalized after a double shooting in Feltonville Monday at the 4700 block of Ella Street. Investigators say the 15-year-old boy was shot in right thigh and is in stable condition. The 24-year-old man was shot in the right hip and is also listed in stable condition.

A Chester County grandmother has been arrested and is facing endangering the welfare of children and drug charges. 56-year-old Pauline Bilinski-Munion of Modena babysits her grandchildren and is a also heroin user. On Friday, her 7-year-old grandson brought bags of heroin he found left out at her house to Caln Elementary School. Six people were injured aboard a US Airways flight from Philadelphia to Orlando yesterday. The plane hit severe turbulence for about 10 seconds making the plane plummet and rock side to side injuring 4 passengers and 2 flight attendants. The pilot returned the plane to Philadelphia where 5 were taken to hospitals.
