Tuition will be increasing for Temple University students this Fall. The university's Board of Trustees voted Thursday to increase tuition by 2.8 percent for the 2013-2014 school year. Tuition rates were frozen this past school year. In addition, the trustees increased the mandatory student fee. The student fee has been frozen for the last four years. The university says the fee increase is in response to rising demand for student services.

The award is presented annually "to the athlete, team or organization that has done the most to reflect credit upon Philadelphia" Hopkins joins other athletes such as Julius Erving, Chuck Bednarick, Mike Schmidt, and Roy Halladay. The Revel Resort in Atlantic City is emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will be changing its name. Revel's new name is "Revel Casino Hotel" and new ownership is rolling out a new marketing campaign focusing on attracting more gamblers. The original plan was to market Revel as a luxury resort.

HBO and James Gandolfini's managers say the actor famous for his role in "The Sopranos" as Tony Soprano has died in Italy. The cable channel, and managers Mark Armstrong and Nancy Sanders, say the 51-year-old Gandolfini died Wednesday while on holiday in Rome. In a statement, HBO called the actor a great talent and a gentle and loving person. His film credits included "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Killing Them Softly," and he appeared in the Broadway production "God of Carnage."

Philadelphia Traffic Court, long viewed as a swamp of political corruption is now history. Governor Tom Corbett today signed legislation that transfers Philadelphia Traffic Court's duties to Municipal Court. The bill signed into law eliminates Traffic Court for practical purposes. The state constitution will have to be amended to formally eliminate it, and that cannot happen until 2015 at the earliest.

New Jersey health officials are advising residents of coyote sightings in Monmouth County. The Monmouth County Regional Health Commission says the sightings have occurred in the central coastal areas of the county. The sightings have not been localized within any specific neighborhood. Debbie Hicks, a woman from Atlantic City, NJ was sentenced to 27 months in prison after being found guilty for stealing benefits from FEMA after the 2013 noreaster.
She received federal assistance because of her apartment being damaged after the 2010 noreaster. A FEMA inspector checked out her apartment and declares that her unit was uninhabitable.

A man was shot and killed this morning in the Fairhill section of Philadelphia. Apparently the man was walking to work about 5 am on the 2800 block of Lawrence Street. Chief Inspector Scott Small says at least eight shots were fired from close range from a semi-automatic handgun. Police are questioning witnesses and reviewing surveillance camera video to lead them to the shooter.
