A veteran Philadelphia police officer has been arrested for the sexual assault of a woman. 40-year-old Rahim Montgomery is charged with the sexual assault of a woman 5 years ago when she was a minor. Montgomery is a 20-year veteran of the force. Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw suspended Montgomery 30 days with the intent to dismiss. Internal Affairs and Special Victims units had conducted investigations into the allegations prior to the charges.

The City of Philadelphia announced the Philadelphia COVID-19 Restaurant and Gym Relief Program on Friday, 1/22. The $12 million grant program is meant to help small businesses most hurt by the latest round of shutdowns. Those restrictions were put in place from the end of November 2020 through January 2021. A 9-year-old girl was shot and killed inside her home in North Philadelphia on Wednesday morning, 1/20. It happened around 11 a.m. on the 2300 block of Bouvier Street. She was shot once in the head. The child was rushed to Temple University Hospital where she was pronounced dead around 1:50 p.m. The girl was home alone with a 12-year-old and a 5-year-old.
