It's snowing on Christmas Eve this year in Philadelphia! This comes as a surprise for everyone in the Philadelphia area, where the forecast was for just rain and maybe an icy mix. The 'magical' snow is just what we needed to lift our spirits this season.

The snow is falling very light over the area, mostly as just flakes, and if it lands it will just cover the grassy areas with a half inch or so.

It's Christmas Eve and it appears Santa may need the light of Rudolph's nose to help find his way through some snowy weather in the Philadelphia region tonight. A winter weather advisory has been issued for the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos with snow and freezing rain in the forecast there tonight. In Philadelphia the weather will be mostly wet this evening and possibly some snow mixed in North and West as Santa Claus comes to town.

Free Condoms in Philly High Schools, NHL Lockout Silent Through Christmas

Over the holidays, high schools in Philadelphia will get a new addition. Condom machines. Twenty two city schools with the highest rates of sexually transmitted diseases will dispense free condoms to students. All students will have access to the free condoms unless parents sign a form opting out of the program.

Rihanna has donated $1.75 million to a hospital in her homeland of Barbados in the Caribbean. The donation will be used to buy three pieces of medical equipment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown. At a ceremony on Saturday at the hospital, Rihanna stated that this was her way of “giving back to Barbados.” The hospital's radiotherapy unit will be named the Clara Braithwaite Center for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine after Rihanna's grandmother who passed away this... The Philadelphia School District will be installing free condom dispensers in 22 high schools over winter break as a pilot program. (see list of schools) The dispensers are being placed in the schools that have the highest rates of sexually transmitted diseases and will be available to all students, except those whose parents signed an opt-out form. A three alarm blaze in Millville, NJ engulfed the In His Presence Worship Center on East Broad Street in Cumberland County. Firefighters were called to the scene shortly before noon. The steeple collapsed down into the sanctuary as the roof went up in flames. It took nearly 3 hours for the six fires crews to get the fire under control. A man went on a shooting spree today in Central Pennsylvania near Hollidaysburg, killing 3 people before being shot himself in a shootout with police. It started around 9:30 am when he shot a woman at a church while decorating for a children's Christmas party in Frankstown Township. Three Pennsylvania State Troopers were injured and four people are dead after a chase that extended over several miles in Hollidaysburg, about 70 miles west of Harrisburg. A gunman apparently killed three people and injured three troopers in pursuit. The gunman was also killed during the incident. One trooper escaped serious injury when a bullet was stopped by his bullet-proof vest.

Council Rock High School South in Northampton Township Bucks County is closed today due to a threat by a student. The school district confirmed it received information Thursday about the threat. A student has been arrested and the school will be closed today to allow police to conduct a sweep of the building.
