Fed Officer Mugged For Laptop, I-95 Bus Fire, 52nd St. Makeover

A federal officer is recovering at Hahnemann University Hospital after being punched in the face in Center City Monday night. Police say two suspects mugged the officer of his laptop at 15th and JFK. The suspects punched the officer before fleeing the area. At least one suspect is in custody.

Arlen Specter Funeral Tuesday, Car Fires Suspicious, Parking Permit Dispute

Arlen Specter, Pennsylvania's longest serving US Senator, died Sunday in his East Falls home after battling Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Specter will always be known for his political independence, his questioning of Anita Hill that helped clear the way for Clarence Thomas appointment to the Supreme Court, and his "Single Bullet Theory" after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Specter will be buried tomorrow at noon. Arlen Specter was 82.

US Senator Arlen Specter died Sunday morning at his home in Philadelphia at the age of 82 from complications of non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. His career was marked by what the pundits and Specter himself called 'fierce independence.' Specter first made it into national prominence by serving as assistant counsel for the Warren Commission, which investigated the 1963 assassination of Pres. John F. Kennedy. That was the word Philadelphia City Council heard Thursday from former Fire Commissioner Roger Ulshafer to describe emergency management at the Kensington warehouse fire in April that killed two firefighters. Wilmington Child Hit By Car, SEPTA Injury Fraud, Michael Vick a Dog Owner

A child was rushed to DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington after being struck by a car on Thursday.
The two year old child left his home in attempt to follow his father to the store.
The boy was struck by a westbound 1997 Buick Century operated by a 52-year-old Wilmington man who did remain at the scene and cooperate with police.
There is no word on the child’s condition.

Sandusky Keeps Pre-Conviction Pension Funds, Eakins Shooting, Romney Phones Pawlucy

Pennsylvania's public employee retirement system says Jerry Sandusky will get to keep more than $900,000 in state pension payments he received after his 1999 retirement from Penn State.

The state's forfeiture law does not authorize SERS to go after money paid before the date of a plea or conviction.

The agency notified Sandusky he will no longer receive his $59,000 annual pension following his conviction and sentence in the child sexual abuse scandal.

Samantha Pawlucy has decided to change schools. She made national headlines over the treatment she got for wearing a Mitt Romney shirt to school. She returned to Charles Carroll High School on Tuesday but once inside the building, she claims students threatened her and made her feel uncomfortable. The school district will assist her with a transfer to a charter or parochial school.

An Old City community center conducted a clothing swap for neighborhood residents on Wednesday. The Christ Church Neighborhood House on American Street conducted the event, hoping to give the community an opportunity to find items for the fall and winter. There was one and a half tables of clothing, a half-filled rack of coats and shirts, and a half table covered with shoes and other accessories available for the taking.

More than a million dollars in heroin was recovered from a row home in Northeast Philadelphia. Agents raided the house on McKinley Street and found the drugs, and materials used to prepare it for street sale, including a quantity of horse tranquilizers used to stretch the street mix.
