Students at John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School in Philadelphia staged a walkout Friday morning, 11/20. The demonstration is in response to the announcement by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia earlier this week that the high school will be closed at the end of this academic year. Bishop McDevitt High School will also be closed. Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine announced the state's vaccine plan on Thursday, 11/19. She said that the health department is monitoring both Pfizer and Moderna, who recently announced promising numbers from their Phase 3 trials of separate coronavirus COVID-19 vaccines. A report from the Philadelphia City Controller's Office released on Wednesday, 11/18, found that over 200 firearms had gone missing from the Philadelphia Sheriff's Office armory between 1977 and 2015. City Controller Rebecca Rhynhart said they received an initial complaint in the fall of 2019 of 15 missing rifles and shotguns.
