The 51st Annual Philadelphia Folk Fest is once again descending upon the Old Pool Farm in Upper Salford, PA. The four day festival includes camping, a craft show, food of all kinds, and vendors of various sorts showcasing their wares. The family friendly event also includes an entire area called Dulcimer Grove dedicated to children with storytelling, jugglers, arts & crafts, and of course children's music. Delaware State Police say a Maryland man was killed when a tractor trailer and a box truck collided on I-95 at 3am Thursday. Abubaker Jamal was driving a tractor trailer northbound when he made an illegal U-turn at an emergency crossover to travel south. The tractor trailer went into the path of a box truck traveling south driven by Abodunrin Akinyanju, whom was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kensington Strangler Found Guilty/Sentenced Life, Valley Swim Club Discrimination Case Settled

The Justice Department has announced a settlement in the racial discrimination case against the former Valley Swim club in Huntingdon Valley dating back to June 2009. The suburban swim club allowed Creative Steps Day Camp of Northeast Philadelphia access to the pool for summer campers. After the first day, they refunded the camp's money and asked them not to return. The club claimed there were too many campers and they were too rowdy for lifeguards to handle. According to a new biography, former Penn State head coach Joe Paterno cried while addressing his assistant coaches after Joe Pa was fired as a result of the Jerry Sandusky scandal. According to the Lower Southampton Township Police Department, a man wearing a shirt with "Property of Jesus" written on it was caught on surveillance video stealing $1000 worth of cartons of cigarettes from Trevose Beer & Soda in Feasterville August 11. Authorities believe the same man is responsible for burglaries that occurred at Krewstown Beverage in Philadelphia and Bensalem Suds Beer Store on August 2 and 5, respectively. Commonwealth Court Judge Robert Simpson issued a decision today that denied a bid by various civil rights groups looking to block the new Pennsylvania Voter ID law from taking effect. Simpson said that the plainiffs, which included the ACLU and others, failed to prove that “disenfranchisement was immediate or inevitable” or that not issuing an injuction would cause “greater injury.” In fact he said stopping the process now would get in the way of preparations underway... Fatal Shooting Suspect Sought, Bucks County Man Dead In Explosive Laden Home, Waterboarding Doctor?

Police are searching for the suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred on Tuesday evening. Two people were shot at about 6:05 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Rockland Street. Both victims were transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center where one of the victims died. Homicide detectives are investigating the scene and are searching for the suspect.

A recent study on Adult Obesity shows that Pennsylvanians are a bit larger around the waist than a few of our neighbors. The study was conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and split out each state by the percentage of the population considered to be obese. The numbers are not very flattering.
