Juniata Body Identified, Bomb Squad To Police Building, Chester Mother's Day Parade Protest

A woman's decomposed body found in the Juniata Park section of Philadelphia early Saturday has been identified as 22-year-old Melanie Colon of North Reese Street. She died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Colon's body was found by a passerby Saturday morning behind an apartment building near Wyoming Avenue.

Saturday was the first Philadelphia Local Music Day put together by Loves Local Music a local music advocacy group. Local businesses across the city ditched their usual soundtracks and replaced it with local music. No More Free Ride at FDR Park for Phillies Parking

Phillies fans who don't mind a bit of a walk have been taking advantage of the ample free parking at FDR Park for decades. However that has all come to an abrupt halt tonight as the Parks and Recreation Department started to actually enforce its 1984 curfew law. Anyone parked in Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park after 9pm tonight would have found a nice $41 parking ticket after the Phils' win over the Padres.

Accused Mayfair Tire Slasher Free on Bail, Local Music Day is Saturday, Mother's Day Weekend Sports

David Toledo, the accused Mayfair tire slasher, has posted bail and is free today. He was released from county jail after his wife posted 10 percent of the $270,000 bail he was being held on stemming from 40 counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief. His attorney downplayed the threats Toledo initially received upon arrest saying things have calmed down. His trial is set for July 12th.

Philadelphia Local Music Day is finally here. Tomorrow all around the city a handful of featured local artists will be heard playing in the establishments of local businesses for the whole day. Since we are also in the business of doing things that "give local musicians more exposure within the Philadelphia community", this sounds like a great idea and hope there's many more to come.

Texting While Walking Banned, Flood Rescued Drivers Pay, Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia

Texting while driving is illegal. And now a New Jersey town is issuing citations for texting while walking. Police in Fort Lee, Bergen County say it's for pedestrian safety. 20 people have been hit by cars so far this year. In the last month and a half, 117 tickets have been issued at $85 apiece - for texting while walking. WTF

Disoriented Passenger Reroutes Philadelphia Flight, Child Hit By Motorcycle, Warrington Pipe Bomber

An airline passenger who apparently became disoriented and tried to open a cabin door on a US Airways Express commuter jet from Maine to Philadelphia was arrested Thursday on a charge of interfering with a flight crew. The flight was diverted to Boston's Logan International Airport. A flight attendant subdued the disoriented man, and a passenger watched him until the plane landed safely.

Man throws Coffee on Employee at Fresh Donuts, Bucks County Pipe Bomb Suspect Arrested

Police in Philadelphia are searching for a man who allegedly threw hot coffee on a Fresh Donuts employee on Tuesday. They say the man and an employee got into an argument about payment at the Fresh Donuts on Lancaster Ave in Powelton Village at 11am. During the argument, the man grabbed a cup of hot coffee from the employee’s hand and threw it on her. He's a black male, 40 years of age, 6'2", 200 lbs, with a mustache. Surveillance video below.

Duck Boat Settlement, Pipe Bomb in the Kitchen, Cell Tower Dispute

Three pipe bombs have been found in a Bucks County home and police have issued an arrest warrant for 50 year old John Grzyminski. His mom returned home from vacation and found a pipe bomb on the kitchen counter. She called police who found 2 more and removed several guns from the home.

The duck boat civil trial is officially over, and lawyers for the victims announced that they have reached a settlement that is far above the $1.8 million cap set by a 160-year-old maritime law. The families will receive $15 million of the settlement, and the remaining two million will be split among the survivors.
