| A Philadelphia Parking Authority officer is losing his job for going on a verbal anti-gay tirade this week. The PPA officer, Joseph DeJohn had parked his vehicle in a no parking zone at 6th and Carpenter Streets in Queen Village. When he noticed two men taking a photograph of the PPA vehicle, DeJohn lashed out, calling them faggots and suggested they take pictures of themselves performing sex acts on each other. The Philadelphia school district still facing a $600 million dollar budget gap has many wondering about the 18 day district wide summer school program, which costs $18 million dollars.
Some classrooms have had full attendance, while others, have had minimal to no students showing up. Teachers are sitting in empty classrooms with nothing to do and being paid.

The NJ state's drug testing policy for police will be changed to allow, but not require, police departments to test officers for steroids, leaving police chiefs with the decision of whether to perform drug tests.
Under the current policy, steroids are not on the list of drugs that can be tested….and these tests cost the state money.

The city of Philaldelphia yesterday continued its quest to publicly shame tax deadbeats as the Revenue Department showcased its latest list of 38 delinquent bums that owe a combined $5.5 million.
Philadelphia's top-three tax deadbeats, according to the city, include Workforce Culture Connections, Keystone Administrative Services and the Baker Funeral Home. Each owes more than $400,000.

Acme loses the top spot to Shop Rite in supermarket sales. This according to an annual survey published by Food Trade News.
ShopRite, ringing up $1.7 billion in sales across the eight-county Philadelphia region, grabbed the top spot from Acme. Acme has struggled to cut costs and has been shutting down underperforming stores and recently laid off 900 part-time employees.
