The Republican National Convention will be held mostly virtually this week August 24 - 27, 9 p.m. - 11 p.m. nightly. Due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, the usual large ceremonial convention with all the pomp and circumstance will not be held in person as it was planned for Charlotte, NC this year. The 2020 convention is still located in Charlotte, but only 6 delegates per state/territory are present. Parts will also come from Washington, D.C.

Philadelphia Police are investigating after a woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Cobbs Creek on Friday night, 8/21. It happened around 8:30 p.m. on Cobbs Creek Parkway near Catherine Street. 25-year-old Avante Reynolds was headed to the park and was crossing the street when she was struck by a car going northbound on the parkway. The PIAA Voted 25-5 to Allow Fall Sports in Pennsylvania Starting August 24

The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Board of Directors voted 25-5 to allow fall sports to begin on August 24. The vote was taken at a meeting on Friday afternoon, 8/21. Individual schools or leagues can make the decision not to participate.

Outdoor falls sports (football, cross country, field hockey, girls tennis, and soccer) will be able to start practice on 9/14. The girl's tennis season will begin 9/28. A judge in New Jersey has fined the owners of a Bellmawr, Camden County gym around $130,000 for their actions repeatedly defying Governor Phil Murphy's executive orders. Owners Ian Smith and Frank Trumbetti reopened their Atilis Gym in May despite the orders to keep certain nonessential businesses closed. A New York couple has been charged for the assault of a Pennsylvania amusement park employee over their non-use of a mask. U.S. Marshals arrested 39-year-old Troy McCoy around 6 a.m. Wednesday morning, 8/19, in the Bronx. McCoy attempted to barricade himself inside his residence on the 2700 block of Sampson Avenue but was taken into custody by Marshals.
