The City of Philadelphia has issued the closure of the homeless encampment located near 22nd and Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The camp must be closed and cleaned out by next Friday, July 17. The camp first appeared last month as a protest over low income housing and homeless services. They were also protesting police brutality and other BLM causes. The National Weather Service has issued Tropical Storm Warnings for the New Jersey coast and Flood Watches inland starting early Friday morning and lasting until Friday night. Tropical Storm Fay has developed off the coast of North Carolina and is moving slowly north. Forecasters are calling for winds between 35-45 mph with gusts over 50 mph. Philadelphia Police are searching for a missing toddler. 2-year-old King Hill was last seen around 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, 7/6, near 31st and Page Streets in Strawberry Mansion. Amber Hill, King's mother, said she hasn't seen her son in about a month. She dropped him off with a trusted stepfather in early June. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney announced on Wednesday, 7/8, that the City of Philadelphia will be waiving all code violation notices (CVNs) issued during recent protests and demonstrations in the city as recommended by the Law Department and Office of Administrative Review. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced on Wednesday, 7/8, that masks or face coverings are now required both indoors and outdoors whenever you cannot maintain proper social distancing. He will sign an executive order later today. New Jersey and New York have both added Delaware to the list of states requiring a 14-day self-quarantine for arriving travelers. Anyone going to NJ or NY from DE must quarantine for two weeks upon arrival at a home, hotel, or other lodging. You may only go out for medical attention, food, or other essential items. Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has issued an apology after posting a series of controversial Instagram posts on Monday night, 7/6. He posted a quote supposedly attributed to Hitler. Jackson also published two posts featuring Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan who is considered an anti-Semite and homophobe. The July 4th weekend was especially violent in Philadelphia. Since Friday, 34 were shot and nine people died. The shootings occurred across all areas of the city. There have been some arrests and some weapons were recovered. A 6-year-old was shot and killed on Sunday early afternoon in Holmesburg. Police say that incident was an accident. A fire damaged a large building converted into apartments in West Philadelphia on Sunday morning, 7/5. It happened around 6:30 a.m. on the 4200 block of Parkside Avenue in the Parkside neighborhood.
