Ray Bradbury, Sci-Fi Author, Dies at 91

Ray Bradbury, the author of classics such as "Fahrenheit 451," "Something Wicked this Way Comes." and "The Martian Chronicles," passed away Wednesday morning in Los Angeles at the age of 91.

Bradbury began his writing career in 1938 by writing for fanzines, becoming a full time writer in 1943. His breakthrough, "The Martian Chronicles," was published in 1950. It was about man's attempt to colonize Mars after nuclear war on Earth.

Sigur Ros has not been on tour in four years, possibly due to frontman Jónsi Birgisson's solo work, and chose to start off in the great city of Philadelphia! They will be performing at Mann Center July 29th and 30th.

The 11th season of television's highest rated show wrapped up tonight. American Idol has been handing us hopefuls for a long time. Some are still doing well, like Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson, while most disappear, and many of the brightest stars don't even win top honors and the guaranteed contract. Jay-Z and Mayor Michael Nutter will join each other on the Art Museum step Monday Morning at 10:30am for a "major announcement". The early word is that they will be announcing a multi-day concert festival happening over Labor Day Weekend. Since the announcement is happening at the Art Museum, the logical thought is the fest would be staged along the Ben Franklin Parkway.
