Last year, Philadelphia music incubator RECPhilly, put together the first ever official Philadelphia showcase at the SXSW music festival in Austin, TX. The lineup for this year's 9th Annual Roots Picnic has been announced. It's going to be held on Saturday, June 4th at Festival Pier in Philadelphia. What a difference one letter makes! iRadioPhilly has changed the name of our Pop/Hits radio station "Isis" to "Iris" to avoid negative perceptions associated with the terrorist group, ISIS.
When iRadioPhilly launched the Isis station in 2010, the female focused station was named for the Egyptian Goddess, Isis, worshiped as the ideal mother and wife. However in the last few years the terror group ISIS has captured headlines, prompting iRadioPhilly to make the change.Read More |
