A young girl is in critical condition after a firework exploded in her hands inside her Kensington home on Sunday morning, 6/30. It happened around 10:35 a.m. on the 1800 block of East Wishart Street. The 9-year-old girl found the firework, possibly an M80, inside her house. She lit the explosive and it went off while she was holding it. The girl was taken to St. Christopher's hospital in critical condition. The bomb squad is checking the house for any more fireworks. Philadelphia Police are seeking the public's help in finding a teenager that has been missing since Thursday morning, 6/27. 13-year-old Kymirah Bennett was last seen around 10 a.m. on the 2300 block of South 25th Street. Hahnemann University Hospital Closes Trauma Center; 4 Gunman Invade Home; Arrest in Playground Arson

Hahnemann University Hospital says it is no longer accepting trauma patients, however, the emergency room will remain open for now. The Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation says they were notified of Hahnemann's decision on Friday night, 6/28. The de-designation as a Level 1 and Level 2 trauma center is effective immediately. A mural dedicated to the late Philadelphia Sgt. Robert Wilson III in 2017 was defaced sometime on Thursday, 6/27. The mural, on the 2900 block of Ridge Avenue in Strawberry Mansion, features a portrait of Wilson in uniform. He died in the line of duty while protecting customers and employees inside a GameStop store during an armed robbery in March 2015. The graffiti contains an unclear message. On Thursday, 6/27, the Pennsylvania Department of Health ordered the owners of Hahnemann University Hospital to 'cease and desist' any plans to close the hospital and halt actions aimed at winding down services. The company that owns Hahnemann announced on Wednesday that it intended to close the hospital by September due to financial losses and would start diverting trauma patients as early as Monday. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney confirmed on Wednesday that Philadelphia Energy Solutions has decided to shut down its South Philadelphia refinery complex. Early Friday morning, 6/21, several large explosions and a fire tore through the Girard Point refinery. The 150-year-old facility also contains the Point Breeze refinery.
