Two people are dead and several others are injured after a multi-vehicle accident in Northeast Philadelphia early Sunday morning, 12/15. It happened at the intersection of Torresdale Avenue and Cottman Ave. in Mayfair. Four women, ages 20-30, were traveling westbound on Cottman Ave. in a Nissan Maxima. An elderly woman was killed in a hit-and-run in Northeast Philadelphia on Thursday evening, 12/12. It happened after 6 p.m. on Hendrick Street near Bustleton Avenue in the Somerton section. 82-year-old Yulia Sherman was found lying in the street with her roller bag of groceries. She had just left the Netcost Market at the Leo Mall. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene at 6:20 p.m. Police did find parts of a vehicle in the area. Witnesses on scene did not see the accident. All charges have been withdrawn against an 18-year-old Philadelphia high school student in connection to the shooting death of his twin brother in Overbrook on December 1st. Fayaadh Gillard had been charged with murder, possession of an instrument of crime, unsworn falsification to authorities, and obstructing justice in the death of Suhail Gillard. Two Philadelphia police officers and one civilian were injured in a head-on crash in the city's Logan section late Saturday night, 12/7. It happened just before midnight on the 1500 block of Windrim Avenue. Police officers were traveling on Windrim in their marked SUV near W. The so-called mastermind and ringleader of a $400,000 GoFundMe scam that defrauded some 14,000 individual donors two years ago has pled guilty to state charges. Mark D'Amico of New Jersey plead guilty to one state charge of misapplication of entrusted property. He will be sentenced to 5 years in prison. The bear that made its way south through Delaware County this week with sightings starting on Black Friday has now turned up in Delaware. A Montgomery County man has been arrested after child pornography was found on both his cell phone and computer. 19-year-old Brian Groo of Horsham is charged with 167 felony counts related to possessing and distributing child pornography. The National Center of Missing and Exploited Children tipped off officials back in September.
