| Atlantic City Mayor Frank Gilliam resigned today, 10/3, effective immediately after pleading guilty in federal court in Camden this morning on wire fraud charges. 49-year-old Gilliam admitted that he stole over $87,000 in donations from a youth nonprofit basketball club he helped form called the Atlantic City Starz from 2013-2018. The first death associated with vaping in New Jersey was announced by officials on Tuesday, 10/1. The death of the adult female from North Jersey actually occurred in August. The New Jersey Department of Health says that the number of confirmed and probable cases of serious lung disease is 14. There are also 32 reports of severe lung illness still under investigation. Those affected are between 15 and 51 years of age.
