2 Shot, 1 Dead in Levittown Pizza Place; Penn Updates Racist Text Investigation

Officials are investigating after two people were shot inside of a pizza shop in Levittown, Bucks County last night. It happened inside of Porfirio's II Pizza, Steaks, and Hoagies on the 900 block of Veteran Highway. Middletown Township Police say that a customer and two employees were inside around 10 pm when two armed robbers entered. City officials announced today that Philadelphia schools may be seeing a change in their calendar over the next year. The Philadelphia School Reform Commission was given a proposal on Tuesday at their meeting that would bring the start day of schools up to September 5th and have school finish up on June 14th. The Star Career Academy which has campuses in Philadelphia as well as New Jersey, announced Tuesday that it will be shutting it's doors effective immediately and all future classes have since been cancelled. The school is closing due to "the result of the negative financial impact of a continued declining student population while operating in the challenging for-profit post-secondary school industry." A 20-year-old man is now in critical condition after an accident involving a police cruiser that happened Monday night. The incident happened at around 5 pm Monday at Torresdale Avenue and Howell Street in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia. A Philadelphia high school student was rushed to the hospital on Monday after a fight broke out at school. The incident took place at the Penn Treaty School on the 600 block of Thompson Street in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia. Twin brothers in Chester County have been sentenced to six to 23 months in prison and 5 years probation during which they are barred from contact with each other. Daniel and Caleb Tate plead guilty to arson and misdemeanor retail theft charges. Police are now investigating after a man was shot and killed in the Tioga-Nicetown section of Philadelphia. Police say the incident happened at around 3:00 pm Friday, on the 3800 block of North 18th Street. Police arrived on the scene to find a 34-year-old man with gun shot wounds to his chest and chin, the man died on the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released. President-elect Donald Trump has asked Vice President-elect Mike Pence to take over the transition team as they prepare for the White House. He will be taking the reigns from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie who had been leading the transition efforts pre-election. Christie will now be one of several vice chairs.
