Two people are now in custody for the beating death of a woman inside her home in Fishtown. Police went to check on 64-year-old Kathy Wilson on the 1300 block of Earl Street Monday morning after a woman walked in the 26th District and told police she may be dead. Officers entered through the second floor bedroom. They found all the gas burners on. Wilson was on the first floor couch, brutally beaten, with her hair torn out. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia on Sunday announced the closure of two suburban churches, saying maintenance costs are too steep for their parent parishes. Immaculate Conception B.V.M. Church in Levittown will no longer serve as a worship site for Queen of the Universe Parish - which is more than $962,000 in debt - and will close. A man and a woman have been arrested for impersonating police in South Philadelphia. 48-year-old Terrance Jacobus and 28-year-old Kelli Rowan are charged with Impersonating, Robbery, Criminal Conspiracy, Theft and related offenses. The pair was driving a silver Nissan on Sunday morning. They stopped a man walking on the 1600 block of Passayunk Ave. Jacobus flashed a badge and said he was an officer. A man was arrested after calling in a bomb threat to PHL airport Thursday afternoon. According to police, 911 received a call from a male stating that he had a bomb and did not want any British Airways planes flying out of PHL. The male also mentioned luggage terminal A during the call. Multiple airport units and bomb squads did a walkthrough of the airport terminal the caller said he was in. Police say a 30-year-old man from Norway was found and apprehended.

Scott Weiland, the former frontman for the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, has died. He was 48. The singer's manager, Tom Vitorino, confirmed the death to The Associated Press early Friday morning. Vitorino said he learned of Weiland's death from his tour manager. He did not provide further details but referenced a statement on Weiland's Facebook page. In San Bernardino suspected shooters have been identified and a shootout between authorities and occupants of a black SUV has taken place, killing two of the suspected shooters involved in the mass killing of 14 and wounding of 17 others at the Inland Regional Center social services building. A total of four people were shot, two of them fatally, in three separate incidents late Wednesday night throughout Philadelphia. Police say a 27-year-old man was shot in the face just after 11 p.m. near Germantown Avenue and West Westmoreland Street in North Philadelphia.
