Police have a 23 year old West Philadelphia man in custody in connection with the brutal murder of Laura Araujo, a recent graduate of the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Her body was found in North Philly in a duffel bag, bound with duct tape on Monday. Her car was found on fire in South Philadelphia. Police have surveillance camera footage from both locations. The man in custody lives in the same building as the victim.

Philadelphia police are questioning a person of interest in the case of a young woman whose body was found early Monday in a duffel bag in North Philadelphia. Police say the 23-year-old man lives in the West Philadelphia apartment complex at 40th and Brown streets in Mantua that the victim was staying in the past month. Philadelphia police have identified the body of the woman found dead and stuffed inside a duffel bag in North Philadelphia early Monday morning. 23-year-old Laura Araujo's cause of death has been listed as homicide by blunt force trauma and strangulation. Her hands and feet had been bound, and her body was put inside a plastic bag, wrapped in a blanket and stuffed in the duffel bag. Last night's lightning, winds and heavy rain darkened the city and many suburbs just after 7 pm. Most of the 10,000 outages reported by PECO were in Philadelphia and Bucks County. In New Jersey 3,000 lost power according to PSE&G with most of the problems in Camden County. In Voorhees, strong winds brought down huge trees onto houses, cars and power lines. A teen is hospitalized after he was reportedly struck by lightning in Glenolden, Delaware County. It happened at around 8:00 pm on the unit block of East Ashland Avenue. The 14-year-old boy was leaving to go to his aunt's house. He was struck in the hand as he was getting into the car. The teen was taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center and is in good condition. He will be transferred to a children's hospital.

Philadelphia police are investigating the discovery of a body of a women found inside a duffel bag early this morning in North Philadelphia. A man who was trash picking found the body on the 2200 block of N. 3rd Street between Susquehanna Avenue and Dauphin Street at around 5:30 a.m. in a lot next to an abandoned building. A couple of stormy days ahead starting this afternoon through Tuesday night. Heavy rains in strong to severe thunderstorms can be expected across the area with winds possibly reaching 50 miles per hour today, tonight and tomorrow. The good news is that after Tuesday afternoon, things clear up very nicely with cooler, dry air moving in for the rest of the week.

Officials say five people were injured Sunday when a SEPTA paratransit bus and another vehicle collided in the Fairill section of Philadelphia. A brown Cadillac driven by a 48-year-old male ran a red light, then struck the paratransit bus, causing it to overturn. Three passengers on the bus suffered back and neck pain and lacerations to the face and were taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition. Drummer Tommy Ramone, the last surviving original member of New York punk back The Ramones, has passed away at age 65. The band announced the news via their Twitter account early Saturday morning. He was the last living of the four original members. Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee, and Tommy founded the iconic band in 1974.

A Camden, NJ, man was found guilty today of all charges in the 2012 rape of a 12-year-old girl and murder of her younger brother. It happened on September 12th, 2012 when the then 31-year-old Osvaldo Rivera broke into the home on Ware Street. The 12-year-old was on the couch. He slashed her throat as he raped her.
