The Mummer's Parade was officially canceled this New Year's Day due to the ongoing coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. However, many groups and brigades took to the streets of South Philadelphia on Friday, 1/1, to celebrate the New Year, to 'protest' the cancelation of the 120-year tradition, and to exercise their first amendment rights. Dick Thornburgh, former Pennsylvania governor and US Attorney General, passed away on Thursday morning, 12/31, at a retirement community facility outside Pittsburgh. He was 88.
